"Clean and Airy"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Clean and Airy

What could be improved

Food, I requested puddings on the menu but the four days I was there I had to have yoghurt everyday.

Anything else?

I was an emergency patient in Oct 08 and found everyone helpful and very kind, I had dislocated my hip.

I had a date for a full hip replacement Monday 16th March, on Friday 13th I received a message saying my op had been cancelled. Monday the 16th I telephoned the consultants secretary and she reported that the reason for the re-scheduling was due to LACK OF EQUIPMENT. This is very hard to understand. I could understand my allocated bed being used for an emergency but lack of equipment in such a large hospital is just not acceptable. I had worked myself up to go in for this big operation, but what helped me was by having it done this week meant that I could attend a large family wedding on May 2nd. But now with my revised date of 6 weeks time (April 26) I can now NOT attend my family's wedding.

Do you understand what effect this rescheduling has on the minds of patients. I am totally shocked that such mis-management can occur in a large new, fully automated hospital. It is bad enough not having a large enough car park but NOT having enough equipment is absolutely disgusting and doesn't give me much confidence. I have been supporting going into Worcestershire hospital everytime I have met someone who tried to get me to go to Oswestry but now I am wondering if I have done the right thing and its made me even more concerned about coming into the Royal.

I sincerely hope this will be passed onto the consultant as he should be made aware of these let downs by your Reps.

Yours sincerely Angela Gregory.
