"Misdiagnosis and treatment by GP"

About: Greater Manchester

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I've been going to Grove Medical Practice, Timplerley and have recently had to change GPs because the previous one had told me I'm diabetic when I'm not. He gave me medication and after taking it, I started to lose weight (3 stone) and lost my appetite. When I queried this to ask if it was the medication that was making me lose weight he said "shouldn't think so" and carried on prescribing it.

One day when I was making an appointment I was asked which GP I wanted to see so I saw a different one. This new doctor said it was very likely that the medication was causing the weight loss and appetite loss and took me off them. I've been fine since then.

I've got no complaints since I changed GP. It's a good service.
