I have visited Woodlands Hospital on a number of occasions. And for me the hospital just keeps getting better with every visit. I have been experiencing abdominal pain for the last four years, and until now my GP was not taking it seriously. When I found out I could go under choose and book, and attend Woodlands Hospital. And there I would see a Gastroenterologist. I was more than happy. When I first went to see my consultant, I was treated with the utmost professional care. The staff at reception were excellent, from the initial greeting to booking me in and showing me where to go. The consultant was on time. And very professional. I was then booked in for an upper GI (gastroscopy). On the 10th September 14 at 10.30am. I had asked for the earliest appointment, because I have three children, one with a disability, who I have to pick up from school. The admissions team were very understanding and gave me the first slot on the list for the procedure. I had also spoken to a Nurse at Woodland, she explained how the procedure would be. This was very respectful and understanding to my worries. The day of the procedure came, and I was very nervous as I have a phobia of anything going near my throat. Also of being sick. I was going to have a sudation to help me through the procedure. But I decided to only have the throat spray. When I first arrived, the member of staff at reception spoke to me and told me how I was in good hands and would be fine. Then the Nurse who was looking after me was understanding and helped calm me. A member of staff came to my room, talked me through the procedure as well as the consultant. The consultant reassured me how they would be less than five minutes. A member of staff took me down to theater. The nurse that spoke to me the whole way through and kept me as calm as I could be. Another member of staff was also in the room helping the consultant, and helped to reassure me as well. The procedure was less than five minute and although uncomfortable was bearable. Thank you to the whole of the team and care provided I got through it. Plus I finally have found out what is wrong with me. So I now can manage my illness and live to the full. I would also like to add that Woodlands is clean, bright, friendly hospital and has the most up respect and understanding for any situation. I would highly recommend Woodland Hospital in Kettering to anyone, especially if you are on the NHS. I would like to just reiterate my sincere thanks to all the team for their care, empathy and professionalism at Woodlands Hospital. Having read the negative reviews on the website I would urge all readers to their excellent place results compared to local NHS units, their customer service feedback and Friends and Family feedback. The positives in this hospital far outweigh the few negative comments on this website. I can’t praise all the team enough and have no reservations about either recommending the hospital to others.
