"Great experience at the birthing centre"

About: Newham General Hospital

Gave birth to my baby at the birthing centre on 21 August 2014. The birthing centre is lovely, as were the midwives who delivered my baby! My only criticism is of the midwife who did my initial examination on arrival - firstly, I found the midwife very unwelcoming; secondly, while I appreciate that an examination is likely to be painful, I found the midwife extremely rough, and that the examination was unnecessarily prolonged (during my entire labour, the only time that I screamed out, was when begging this woman to stop the examination); thirdly, when my mother asked if a particular midwife was on duty that night, she responded in a very rough, irritated, and impolite manner. This is unfortunate, as she was the first midwife who we came into contact with at the centre - such a shame that she has a bad attitude (had it not have been for my experience with this woman, then I would have rated my experience there with five stars). The other midwives were superb, and everyone else who came to my room, including, the young man taking meal orders, the lady serving the meals, the paediatrician, etc. etc.
