"gynecolgy op"

I had an op at Basingstoke, the departments don't seem to be on the same page so to speak, First the visit to the consultant, he tells me about the op. Then 2 months later for my pre operative visit . A nurse tells me about the op and what to expect, and says I will have to see the consultant again 6 weeks after the op. An hour later I see the consultant who says no not 6 weeks 3 months. On the day of the op the staff nurse tells me I will have to stay in, I have to ring my daughter to tell her not to pick me up til the next day. we knew there might be a possibility of having to stay in but the nurse said all our ladies who have this op stay in, its ok I was prepared to tsay anyway. I have to sign a consent form but I cant read what the consultant has written, when I ask him he is quite abrupt, 'I can read it upside down' he says, but does'nt tell me what is actually says, 'it just says about the operation' he says. His English wasnt the best and he seemed to be mumbling, He kept going in and out of the cubicle like he didn't really want to talk to me. I had to sign it, he kept tapping on the paper, it was really irritating. He said he would like me to return for a check up in 8 weeks, not 3 months as the other consultant has said. Later one of the nurses came in and I asked her what it said on the form, she made most of it out and said she would ask the consultant to pop back in, but before I knew it I was being taken to the theatre so didn't get to find out. I got a copy of the consent form sent to me and showed it to my own doctor who also could not make out most of it. The next thing I remember is waking up in a cool room on the post op ward, no one came in to see me for ages and I couldn't find a call button. eventually a nurse came in with a jug of water and asked when my daughter was picking me up as I was ready to go home, it was midday. I said I was told I was staying in, she explained only if there was a problem would I be in overnight and seeing as I was fine I would be able to go. I asked to see the consultant as he did say he would before I went home. She says hes already gone, I went back to sleep and vaguly remember the consultant in my room but I couldn't understand what he was saying, I must have been a bit out of it. Later the nurse said I had dreamed it,. She asked when my daughter would collect me as they couldn't reach her, not supprising as since I had told her not to collect me till the next day she had gone to work, she had a corporate in London and was probably on the underground. They managed to call her about 2pm, so she had to turn around and come straight back. she arrived about 6pm. the nurse wanted me to walk,I still had jelly legs, they found me a wheelchair although they were not pleased at all. even though my original symptoms have abated somewhat, the operation has left me with another set of symptoms which I wasn't told about and the consultant said its the best outcome.
