"Prostate removed"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as the patient),

I stayed on Simpson 2 ward at Nottingham City Hospital to have my prostate removed due to cancer. I was admitted on Sunday at 2pm for an operation on Monday at 2pm. This seemed too long to me but the care was very good. I asked for pre-medication because I was frightened which seemed to work. The operation went well but getting back to normal took longer than expected. Visits by chaplain staff was welcomed. The care by the nursing staff was of a high standard but the Nightingale ward was too large and too noisy. I hope that the ward modernisation will be completed soon. Specific nurses for specific groups of patients would be welcome. Overall my treatment and care on the ward was very high.
