During the traumatic and upsetting time of suffering a heart attack, I found my care from all staff excellent, whilst every area of the hospital I found to be clean and well kept. Communication: I experienced great communication from all staff levels. The ambulance staff explained what was happening and what the next steps may or may not be , this reassured me in the first instance. Over the next few days whilst admitted to hospital, the nursing staff, doctors and consultants explained things clearly using plain English and eliviated any concerns I raised with them. Upon release, I left with a month of medication and instructions on how to take them. I was also given a 24 hour helpline if I had any concerns. After release from the hospital, so far my appointments have come in a timely manner. Involvement in decisions: I felt I was hugely involved in the decisions in my care. After each investigation, I was given an explanation of where we were upto and I felt I was consulted and involved each step of the way. Care and dignity: I found all saff and volunteers to be caring, friendly, professional and thoughtful. I would like to thank the catering staff who remembered my drinks, and would leave a drink for me if I was not in my room; The nursing staff who would offer me dignity at all times and ensured I was covered appropriately at all times or would do their best to ensure the injections were as painless as possible and the volunteers who asked if I would like anything from the shop. Cleanliness: in the areas of the hospital I attended, which included my own room, the ward corridors, the ward lounge, canteen and various specialist rooms ie MRI area etc, I found them to be clean and tidy. I did not find anything to be broken or misplaced. During the cleaning of my room, I found the staff to be thorough, unobtrusive and friendly. Catering: I found the amount of beverages available during the day and night more than adequate. The food and snacks provided by catering were good. There were many options on the menu at all meal times. I enjoyed all meals I had chosen. I felt if I wanted a snack outside normal serving, I could ask.
