After being advised by my gp to seek advice of a GU clinic, I went to my local clinic in wakefield but advised to go else where due to being short staffed and long waiting times. I turned to Barnsley as not sure where else to go. I found the walk in service very approachable and felt everyone from receptionist to consultant had plenty of time for you. On my first visit I was checked in, explained procedure, tests done and seen by the health advisor and done after one hour which i found personally fantastic. The majority of my visits was with nurses who was very skilled and knowledgable in this area, who took time to explain things clearly and talked me through the tests I needed. It's a sensitive area GU medicine and felt properly supported through out, i didn't feel embarrassed about going nor did I feel judged. I do feel however that the department could do with a lick of paint and maybe some more HCA's to help out with routine bloods as it did take a while with one visit. Thankyou to the GU team for all that you did for me, I felt safe, cared for and supported through out. Big thumbs up.
