I gave birth here on 20th August, I was induced and they were dangerously short staffed. We were left alone for many hours at a time, terrified, in extreme pain, and begging for help. My birth plan was ignored and I was forced to go through procedures and intervention against my consent, and with lots of people in the room. There was no care, no dignity for me, and ended in an emergency C section. (The theatre staff, consultant, and anaesthetists were amazing) The aftercare on the ward was dreadful, non existent. My husband had to stay as the midwives weren't available to help care for our baby (and I wasn't able to hold her) and he only had a very hard chair. I managed to get discharged after 24 hours as it was the only way I would be able to recover, and my pleas to be transferred to Eastbourne or Crowborough (where I had planned to give birth) were completely ignored. We had planned to have a second child, but I am now far too scared to go through that again. I feel violated, traumatised, and don't think I'll ever be able to recover from the way I was treated at this place. It was hell on earth. The management have created a dreadful legacy for themselves, how is this inhumane way of treating women even legal?
