"A totally positive experience"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

I was admitted by ambulance to A&E at BRI yesterday at around 11.00 am From the ambulance people through to the last doctor I saw on ward 17, my experience with every single person was positive. On entry the overcrowding was terrible but the staff involved made sure that we were all given constant attention and reassurance form our trolleys lining the wall of the corridor. Hygiene rules were observed well and all staff worked tirelessly for our welfare. When waiting in the A&E ward I was provided with refreshments and did not feel 'left' at any point. I do not know how they managed it. Every possible protocol was observed to reassure and to treat. I was a dental surgeon for the NHS for many years so know what it is to work for the public under pressure. I was truly impressed. Up on the ward the standard was just as high from caterers nurses and doctors. It was fantastic to go from being utterly ill stressed and terrified to calm and ambient through the course of one day having had positivity from all of these wonderful people. Mine is complicated background and I have never felt it to be better understood than yesterday. Thank you BRI so much. Kind regards Cynthia Dunn
