"comfort at a difficult time"

About: Dorset County Hospital

I found myself in a horrible situation that left me scared, in pain and anxious. Not only did staff in a&e act quickly to get my situation under control the after care in the ward was exceptional. The idea of staying in hospital was deeply unpleasant to me but the ward was very comfortable, the beds were brilliant and helped me rest in a compromised position. The staff kept me cool with fans. Curtains were drawn and redrawn at every request. Nurses attended their call buttons instantly. Constant care and observation was given 24/7 in a full ward. And they were so so friendly. I'm shocked at the poor July review. Although I think some people expect hospital staff to be waitress, friend, slave and forget the extent of work placed upon them and if their smile slips, well, perhaps they've seen someone really suffer today and it has taken its toll on them... Being human and all. Also the food was excellent and had a brilliant selection of tempting healthy food

Thank you for posting such lovely comments on your recent experience in our hospital. It is wonderful to hear how well you were cared for by the various teams and particularly lovely to read about the care, compassion and consideration you were shown by the nursing staff during your stay. I echo your comments regarding the CQC inspection report from July 2013; I was really disappointed by the findings of the report and we have been working hard to ensure that the issues the inspectors identified are improved upon; your feedback is a good indication that we are heading in the right direction. Thank you once again for your kind words and I hope you continue to make a good recovery. Kind regards, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital.
