Having previously been treated for a DVT at PRS where I was fitted for a compression stocking I was surprised that on this occasion there was no mention of using a compression stocking and when I mentioned This i was advised that this not considered. This despite the advice on the NHS website which recommends consideration of a compression stocking. Additionally when I tried to have a discussion with the doctor's associate I was greeted by "you have been looking at the internet" which was of course correct but then why wouldn't I given all the recent adverse publicity regarding NHS hospitals. I should balance this comment with a very positive statement regarding the care from the nurses in the ACU and the doctor(?) I eventually saw after 3 hours in ACU. Although I was still left feeling very confused as to whether the NHS website advice is no longer current or PRS do their own thing? My main issue is that I did not feel I left armed with the necessary information to ensure an effective recovery particularly when compared to the advice on the NHS website.
