"Rheumatology and Spinal Departments."

I contacted Spire as I had unexplained weakness ,pain and dexterity that was getting progressively worse very quickly.struggled to obtain appointments and referrals from one department to next spent a lot of time on the phone chasing them. Struggle to understand the consultant ,i was displaying some very red flag symptoms and should have been advised to go to hospital or referred immediately to the right person. One appointment was cancelled informed by letter that arrived after date waisted 80 mile round trip.offered another appointment 3 wks later that would have been too late ,saw another consultant but could tell me very little.Referred to ," lead" Spinal Surgeon who informed me that I had damaged my spinal cord that I would never ride again and need rehabilitation program, that there was no operation for this condition .MRI clinic was very officiant but struggled to obtain a disc with my images on had to pay a small fee. Sought second opinion at London Spine Clinic was seen 3 days later with consultant. Viewed scan and explained that if I was not operated on with in days I would a quadriplegic in a short space of time, my mobility and sensations were diminishing by the day On the Monday morning he performed a Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion. That was done 3weeks ago just returned from a weeks sailing . If I had not sought a second opinion my life would be very different now ,in a wheel chair.
