"A and E experience"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I am very fortunate oin having had to access A and E only 3 times in my life and only a handful in the lives of my three children in their late teens/early twenties. We have only ever been if there is no alternative. On Sunday 6 July I attended with my 21 year old son at approximately 11.00, he had tripped while erecting a tent the night before and broken his wrist. We were greeted by a receptionist , who appeared to default to unpleasant , but were triaged immediately by a delightful nurse. After a wait of approximately 2 hours I imagine we went to minor injuries although that was not obvious . We were seen by an ENP who was fabulous , she was gentle sympathetic and treated my son with professional good humour . We went straight to x ray and my son was plastered within approximately 1/2 hour by someone who was apparently as efficient and generous of her time and spirit as Zoe. They should be commended for their approach .

Thank you for taking the time to post this lovely review, highlighting how wonderful our triage nurse, ENP and plaster technician were. We were sorry to read that our receptionist did not live up to the same standard and please be assured that we will remind our receptionists that you seldom get a second chance to make a good first impression. We do hope that your son is make a good recovery. With best wishes The Communication Team Darent Valley Hospital
