"Post Maternity Nightmare"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

My incident is from September 2012. The Pre delivery teams are fantastic but the post delivery care and mid-wives care is horrible. To quickly list things: 1. Breast feeding didn't go well with my LO as she didn't latch and was stick to my breast for hours. Only advice constantly given is breast feed without actually accessing, if the baby is getting dehydrated and hungry, which actually happened to my baby as she was constantly cry and her had started becoming hoarse by the minute. 2. The mid-wife introduced as the one to care was never to be seen and constant changes of mid-wives checking up didn't help as they weren't able to assess the actual situation nor actually show any empathy! 3. Post taking advice after 36 hours of seeing my LO's health detoriating from a Peds known to us he quickly advised that our baby was hungry and dehydrated. I was wondering how did the staff actually present miss this???!!! 4. The worst was yet to come and this was through the night staff. When I requested formula milk for my baby (it was already around 9or 10pm in the night), as she wasn't latching due to which my breast started bleeding, I was told my the rude midwife that only ladies who have diabetic will be given the formula milk. I was told to get my own from outside!!! I still haven't been able to understand the point of being in the hospital, if they can't provide it and my hubby had to get it at 11pm. Seriously??!! The keenest by the same mid-wife to show me how to feed my baby the milk was equally appalling!!! BTW, no point complaining to their teams or through complaint channels as they defend their own and find no issues at all even after investigation!! Don't know what stops them from changing the Post Delivery unprofessional and empathy lacking Mid-wife Culture??!!
