"Overall care quality"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

In recent months in particular I have been involved with A&E, Urology, Radiology, Cardiology and Audiology - and the 'Ambulatory Unit' which should have special mention as being absolutely outstanding! All the above units have given me excellent treatment and care, and I am extremely grateful that I live so close to such an excellent hospital. This is not to say that everything has been perfect. We live in an imperfect world, and some human errors do take place - like the occasion when I turned up for a urology appointment - and was told it had been moved to Wansbeck! --- However return transport was provided so apart from a little extra time (and cost to the NHS) all was fulfilled, I have lived in the USA for a short period - and that was enough to make me fiercely proud of our NHS. We need to protect our NHS from privatisation!

Response from North Tyneside General Hospital

Dear Sir / Madam, This is really lovely feedback to receive - thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us. We are understandably proud of the many professionals and teams who work extremely hard every day to ensure that the care we offer is of the highest standard. I was delighted to hear that this was consistently true for you in the numerous departments you visited. It is precisely this level of reliable excellence that we're aiming for for all our patients. Apologies for the short notice you received about the change in your urology appointment - I am glad it was resolved with additional transport and considerable understanding on your part. Your letter was detailed in acknowledging not only the excellence of your local hospital but also your pride in the NHS . Thank you. This feedback means such a lot to our staff and it means most of all when it comes directly from the patients and families they care for. Take great care of yourself, Annie Laverty
