"Poor post op physio"

About: Ripon and District Community Hospital

Attended physio here after a left leg lateral release. Had previously had good physio here following the same op on the other leg. This time the physio was neither effective nor tailored to actually meet my needs, which resulted in poor recovery. It took me about a year longer to rehab than after my previous op. The staff are lovely but the admin processes were not great, parking was a nightmare and they are clearly so overloaded that my impression was that my care suffered as a result. My previous physio here was much better than this one so my opinion is that the care you receive is variable according to who you are allocated to.

Response from Ripon and District Community Hospital

Thank you for your comments, which we greatly appreciate. Ripon Community Hospital services are part of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust and I am sorry to learn that your experience was not as good as it could have been. We always aim to deliver high quality care to all patients and ensure that our staff are highly trained to deliver this care. The treatment provided and outcome of that treatment will, of course, depend a wide range of clinical factors. However, where deficiencies in care are identified, we take action to support staff to improve their skills. We accept that there is limited parking at Ripon Community Hospital and work with the local council and our patients to identify options where we can. However, we are confined by the site that the Hospital occupies. If you would like us to look into any aspect of your care more formally, you can contact our Patient Experience Team on (01423) 555499 or email thepatientexperienceteam@hdft.nhs.uk Thank you again for contacting us and I am sorry that you did not feel that your experience met the high standards that we expect. Yours faithfully Chris Watt Head of Communications Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust
