"A and e specialist nurse practitioner"

I was seen by the specialist nurse practitioner after sustaining an injury to my finger where I had chopped the top off my finger in a garden shredder. I was seen quickly and treated efficiently and was in and out of the hospital in 3 hours. Part of the reason for this is that I was offered the option of staying on a trolley which meant a long wait to see a doctor there were about 20 or more people lined up on trollies waiting to be seen before me. Or to transfer to a chair, which part of me thought I couldn't do as I thought I would pass out ( I had done this previously), in which case I could be seen almost immediately. I opted for the chair despite feeling dreadful for the chance of being treated more promptly. This worked out brilliantly for me, but did rely on me being able to make a very practical and logical decision, whilst in a lot of pain and going into shock - I was vomiting and shaking. As soon as my pain relief was effective I was able to cooperate much better with treatment and be discharged quickly with a plan for follow up. I was dispatched with pain relief and antibiotics before returning for surgery the next day. I liked being able to go home overnight rather than being kept in hospital. The nursing staff were fantastic, everyone I came into contact with I thank you. I did not see a doctor once and don't feel that I lacked because of it.
