"Admission to A and E after falling"

I had just finished doing a market at Paul and was loading up the car to go home to St Just. I have arthritic knees and they sometimes give way. It happened, and I landed with all my weight on my left wrist. I felt extremely sick. One of the other stallholders very kindly took me to the hospital. The receptionist, I realised later, assumed I had been drinking. She couldn't understand what I was trying to say. I was slurring my words, in other words I was in shock. She wouldn't give me a pen so I could write my details down. It turned out I had in fact broken my wrist. Even the woman who had brought me to the hospital was losing her patience with the receptionist. Everyone else treated me with kindness, but to this day it is probably on my records that I had been drinking when I had not. Are receptionists not given training in how to recognise when someone might be in shock ? If not they certainly should be.
