"Planned c section operations"

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital

I gave birth on Monday at the women's. I had a planned c section as I did with my first child. When I had my first on arrival we we're taken straight to a ward to wait for our baby to be born. The staff were fabulous and the surroundings and settings just made the day completely magical for us. This time round however the process had changed, you have to go into a waiting room with a load of other people. The room was uninviting and we were told that all of our bags had to be taken to the car again as there was no space for the them and that only the lockers would fit our costs in. We were all asked to get changed then sit back in the waiting room in our gowns and socks. It was a little undignigied sitting in front of strangers in uncomfy chairs wearing nothing but a gown. Our partners could not fit in the room where our checks and pre ops where carried out so that was done alone. This kind of ruined what should have been a perfect day. It had obviously been done for cost cutting reasons but people who have had a natural birth obviously had there cubicle/room where they got to have a few precious moments with there partner before the baby arrived! It just felt a bit impersonal and like I was waiting to go I to see the dentist! Other than that the staff and care where amazing and I wouldn't change a thing of that. It was literally just that waiting room which spoilt the start of our day. Thanks for all ur support during the section and aftercare though it was great. Nicola
