"Admitted to hospital in January 2012. I was told..."

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

Admitted to hospital in January 2012. I was told by the doctor I was in the last stages of heart failure. I was very weak and breathless, a very poor woman. Unfortunately there was no bed available at Huddersfield RI, so at 11: 45pm I was transferred to Calderdale Hospital. The heart specialist at Calderdale consulted my heart specialist at Huddersfield and they decided to change some of my tablets. I was on a large dose of 20mg twice a day. I was discharged from hospital January 2014 and came back to my home with carers helping me. I lost a lot of weight and went down from 7st 3lbs to 6st 2lbs, felt weak. The most visits were by the doctor. Was given a health specialist nurse and they slowly helped me to recover – my tablets were reduced. The nurse gave me confidence and consulted with my heart specialists and my Dr. She has been so helpful, given me confidence and a power of strength to me. I am no longer breathless and feel strong. I am gaining a little weight. I am limited to what I can do which I accept because of aortic stenosis and I need carers to help me which we employ. Thanks to all concerned.
