"Trustplus Northwick Park Hospital - A Bad experience!"

About: Brent Teaching PCT Northwick Park Hospital

(as a relative),

Having been a private patient myself at Trustplus Northwick Park Hospital a couple of years ago and having suffered nurses who ignored patients, rudeness and bad service I had hoped that when my mother stayed there recently things may have improved but how wrong I was!

Some of the nurses have an extremely bad attitude towards patients and visitors and I found it unbelievable that a private patient and their family were treated with such a lack of respect. When the bell was rung for attention by the patient who needed the toilet, nurses would often completely ignore this and I went to the nurses station myself to find three nurses reading a catalogue! They barely glanced up as I stood there waiting! Whilst I understand that the nurses may be stressed they should not take it out on patients and visitors and my mother who had just had major surgery was extremely upset that family members were not allowed to visit her on the say so of a nurse who had no real reason to object, particularly as my mother had her own private room. We often travelled far to be with her and to be told that we couldn't visit at a convenient time was very upsetting. One of the reasons we went privately was for the flexiblity of visiting that we were assured was allowed! The food was not the quality that we had been led to believe and often arrived cold. All in all I certainly would not recommend a stay at this hospital as a private patient. I am sure there must be much better facilities than this where the patients are treated with the kindness and respect they deserve.
