I waited over an hour and a half for three vials of blood to be taken on Monday last There were 30 plus people waiting, Two in wheel chairs which blocked two pathways as there is not the facility for them to be placed safely in the waiting area opposite - several including me used walking aids and were jostled in the streams of bodies going to and from other wards and departments further in the hospital before we could get into the room To have to wait inbetween the main entrance and thruway corridors of a major acute care hospital is an accident waiting to happen The hard pressed staff are not the problem nor their attiude nor their interreaction with other departments There just aren't enough of them with only two chairs in a room smaller than the room my dog sleeps in... to service many many dozens of patients everyday, is appaling In Blackpool Victoria on the other hand , I have never had to wait more than ten minutes for any blood test.. the department is well staffed, with a waiting area. The testing cubicles are private and the chairs are suitable for all persons. Preston Royal Management needs to go visit the Vic have and upgrade your facility PDQ
