"Concerns about my mother's care at MRI"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

Our mother is currently admitted in AM3 ward at MRI and this is the fourth time she has had to be admitted for a recurring UTI. We have been pushing for a Urologist to see our mum, but this has been severely delayed as the staff do not seem to have any control over this. The last four months have been a nightmare for our family, as whenever our mother is discharged, a few days later she is back in the hospital with the same UTI, which has a resistant bug E-Coli and can only be treated with IV antibiotics. We have been promised that a Urologist will see her next week but can only live in hope. (FYI she also had TB which has shown marked improvement and she has further 2 months of treatment left for this). Please help!

Thank you for your feedback and sincere apologies for the length of time it has taken to respond. We are very sorry to receive your comments and concerns via the Patient Opinion website about your mother’s experience on admission to AM3. It is very difficult to respond to the specific concerns you have raised without being able to investigate her case in detail. We take all issues surrounding patient care very seriously and would very much like to hear from you directly about this. If you wish to contact Urology directly, please call Julie Pugh, Urology Office Manager on 0161 2766088.
