"I visited Sutton emergency eye ..."

About: Sutton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I visited Sutton emergency eye unit on Monday with my 86 year old mother and was so impressed with the care and attention that we received that I am inspired to write about it!

My Mum was experienced blurred vision and seemed convinced that it was something serious, we had previously been to the GP who told us to go to an optician, who in turn referred us to the Hopsital. The sytem was efficient and well organised, the nurses were delightful and the Doctor was natural, down to earth and quick, with a great sense of humour, just what we needed. In 1 hour we were seen and diagnosed and had peace of mind. Thank you to all the staff at the Emergency Eye Unit at Sutton Hospital.

What could be improved

Perhaps a little more space for these great people to work in.....

Anything else?

I suspect that the diagnosis of Cataracts could have been done by the GP, don't know why he wouldn't even look at her eyes. I am not a doctor but an 86 year old woman with blurred vision and no previous cataract surgery made me think of it. We now have weeks of referral letters and another appointment with the catarct unit to wait for and then potentially a long wait for surgery. Seems to me you have great staff doing a fantastic job but processes that could be improved on.
