"Frustrated by notoriously long delays at orthopedic clinic"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

I had an appointment in the Orthopedic Clinic for 3.05pm on arriving I was promptly informed that the clinic which I was attending was running 20 minutes behind. At least now I knew the situation however by the time I actually got to see the consultant it was approx 3.45pm.

It is not ideal that a clinic is notorious for always running late I can only assume that somewhere pressure is being imposed to get patients an appointment thus reducing the waiting list. Indeed if this is the case it is of no benefit to anybody the patients become frustrated and I am sure it must create pressure on the medical and support staff.

However the staff behaved in a friendly and efficient matter and did make apologises for any delay, although it could be considered as common courtesy, it was nice to receive.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on this website and I am sorry to read of delay you encountered during your recent attendance to Fracture Clinic here at Rotherham General Hospital.

Due to the unpredictable nature of Fracture Clinic delays can occur and work is ongoing looking at booking rules and the way patients are being appointed in an attempt to reduce the waiting times. I am however pleased that staff in the department kept you informed of the delay and that you found them friendly and efficient. I have forwarded your comments to the Matron for Orthopaedics and the Sister in Fracture Clinic.

Thank you once again for your post.
