"Beware the noisy geriatrics on Ward 28!"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

There's a demented centegenarian on Ward 28 who's being abusive to nursing staff and keeping all the other patients awake at night, including my wife, but they are doing nothing about it! She won't take pills to sedate her and they won't give her an injection to make her go to sleep and shut up either! Or, better still, to move her to a side room (preferably with a high level of acoustic insulation) so everyone else can have some peace! A younger person would have probably been prosecuted for this sort of behaviour, but if you're elderly it looks like you have carte blanche to be as noisy and abusive as you want in this hospital! It's quite ludicrous that they have these sorts of geriatrics on regular wards along with younger people who are compus mentis and want to get some sleep! Certainly not conducive to getting well! Ironically, the standard of care at the hospital is otherwise pretty good... but the last thing you want is to be on edge the whole time you're in hospital because you have someone behaving like that in the bed next to you all the time!
