"I was admitted to the Women's ..."

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted to the Women's Health Centre on 13th October with severe onset of pre-eclampsia. On 15th October my baby was delivered safety by emergency C-section. From my initial appointment with my community Midwife (who identified the problem and dealt with the situation very calmly and professionally), through to our follow-up appointments I have been very much impressed by the care both myself and my daughter received at the hospital. The consultant was wonderful! and helped me understand our situation and the need for immediate action. The C-section theatre team were brilliant, the midwifes and neo-natal nurses fantastic and I cannot praise them highly enough. (Also I had wonderful help from a student midwife who was amazing).

My condition was very serious and it was dealt with in a professional, calm and kind manner.

I will always be incrediably grateful to the NHS and to Wonford Hosptial and the community midwifes in Launceston. These people saved our lives, and now I have an extremely beautiful daughter to enjoy. THANK YOU.

What could be improved

1.Car Parking! (but the Neo-natal Unit gave us a pass for our long stay which was brilliant).

2.GP/Ward liaison. At one point I found myself in the middle of NHS politics with the GP wanting me to have follow up checks on the ward and the ward wanting the GP to do them! This was resolved quickly but I did find it stressful.

3. Sorry! The food could be a bit healthier and more tempting!

Anything else?

My gripes seem irrelevant in terms of what the hospital did for us.
