I recently attended Derriford hospital to have knee replacement surgery. I was admitted to Stannon Ward following the operation. I have been in hospital countless times with various operations and I can honestly say this was my best stay ever. All the nurses (except one HCA who really should have left the NHS years ago!) were just excellent. The HCAs were excellent, the domestic and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. If it wasn't for the awful food I would have stayed longer. Nothing was too much trouble for all of the staff. (Except the one and I think the rest of the staff are aware of her shortcomings). They all bonded extremely well and were all working together as a team, rather than trying to get out of work which I have found in the past. I can honestly say that there was nothing I could find fault with on this visit and would say for anyone due to stay on Stannon ward you really have nothing to worry about regarding your stay.
