About: James Paget University Hospital

horrendous, horrific, not fit for purpose the list is endless....maternity do not use it, you are risking your life and your baby's....waters broke at 0715 am , mild contractions....told to come in as the risk of infection...told we will leave you 24 hours max before we induce, due to the high risk of infection....30 hours later was 1st attempt at induction...did not work.....37 hours 2nd attempt...this did work.....was checked at 11.30 pm....spent over 3.5 hours in the bath being sick and asking for something stronger than paracetamol...you will get that on CDS...by this point it is 4 am asked again for stronger pain relief, nope when you get to CDS....at 7 am was told you should really be on CDS but we do not have a midwife to attend to you so you will be staying here......0745 an over whelming urge to push takes over....Midwife brought to bed , who then decided to do an internal and panicked as I was over 7 cms!. rushed off got a wheel chair and ran me through to CDS! .. arrived there at 0805..... at 0850 an emergency c section was ordered.... baby was back to back with me and at no point did any of the medical staff pick this up!!! as you can imagine I was examined a fair bit!the head was wedged stuck and the cord round baby's neck twice.....my heart rate going over 130, baby's dropping....The midwifes on ward 11 are bullies, they will only insist on breast feeding and only help if you are doing this....I pointed out at 0100 hours the I was sure my baby was tongue tied, which was causing the feeding problems... she checked " oh you may well be right" did she pass this on .No did she do anything no..doctor carried out mother and baby discharge checks and also failed to check or notice. I pointed out this and they checked and then oh yes arranged for it to be cut... They carried out urine test on admission and the result showed I had another kidney infection..... was discharged without being told this or given medication.....they also left something behind after the C section and got a womb infection... went to GP they took swabs and sent me back to A&E as emergency, Registrar took swabs.. gave me antibiotics and ordered an emergency internal scan, this took place 4 days later.... Unbelievable not only was my GP swab lost, so was the one taken in the hospital by the registrar! they had to be redone... I now have strep B... because they left me so long after my waters broke.....Food is vital for recovery and especially for nursing mothers... well I had mine brought in... 1 roast dehydrated diner and one dehydrated lasagna.1 salad swimming in water and the lettice was all brown round the edges..... would you like to be treated here!
