"third world A&E"

About: King George Hospital

I went to A&E suffering from carpal tunnel syndrom in my left arm due to my pregnancy. I had already seen a gp who advised me to go A&E as she could not prescribe the wrist band I needed. Today the pain was really bad and despite massages and lots of tiger balm the pain was getting worse. I saw an out of hours gp in king george A&E who was rude to me and actually laught when I described the pain. He also reckoned that it was not carpal syndrom and that I diagnosed myself online! Since I did not back down he agree to let me see a A&E person who gave me the Wrist band I needed (she was great). This gp should not be allowed to work, he made me feel really bad for coming in and did not want to help! Im shocked and disguted by this treatment.

Thank you for your feedback on NHS Choices. I am really sorry that the GP you saw was rude and made you feel bad for visiting our hospital. This is totally unacceptable. I would like to investigate this and to be able to do so, I need more details. Please contact me through our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely, Stephen Burgess Medical Director
