On the 2nd Sept 2014 I arrived for my scheduled operation at 7.30am at Maple Ward having spoken to a lovely friendly lady at 6.30am who confirmed my bed was available. I was greeted by a Health care assistant with " Good morning. Welcome to Maple ward" what a lovely start to an experience which up until that minute I had been very anxious about. We hear so much about the poor Nursing standards in our hospitals nowadays well I can tell you not on Maple ward! I was privileged to be cared for by a wonderful team of skilled, professional, kind, caring and friendly people. From the lady who greeted me to the care assistants,The theatre Nurses, the anaesthetist who put up with my questions through to my wonderful consultant and his lady colleague my treatment was excellent. I know how busy they were but standards were very high. I was very anxious to go home as soon as possible before the operation but If I had to have stayed overnight I would have been very happy to have been in their care. I am so sorry I can't remember all of your names but I Thank each and every one of you for taking such good care of me and for doing it with a smile. I would also like to mention that when the lady in the bed opposite me was taken down for her op and her bed taken with her a member of the housekeeping star was there straight away cleaning the floor before her return, amazing! You're a fantastic team of people and you should be proud of the wonderful job you're doing. You made a stressful experience very easy to deal with and I was relaxed and happy from the minute I arrived which I am sure is contributing to my recovery. My very grateful thanks. Alex
