"What a joke"

About: St Georges at Queen Mary's Hospital (London)

I have been a patient on Rose ward for quite a few weeks and was shocked at the experience I have had. I was on the ward for depression and other aspects some of the staff well a hand full were amazing could not rate them hire but you could observe that they would take the job load of 3 people. This is not right the activities are not always on but the person who makes these happen is a good person but don't feel he has full support from the ward he acted much more like a nurse then anything else so people would become board and get low the tv room was infested with ants and was still not sorted when I left someone put a drink down and it was covered when they picked it up to have a drink. The bin was full and was moved outside were it stayed un empty for 2 weeks. A glass was smashed in the garden and there was self harmers on the ward and I found 8 pieces of glass over the next 4 days when in the garden and a self harmer also found one and cut themselves to then be called stupid. The staff made it seem like a chore to have to deal with you and never returned an answer we as a group would have long chats and support each other. One person sat in there room and cut there wrists not once but twice and was not checked for 4 hours then found a blunt blade and had a piece of glass so lucky no serious damage but this could have been a lot worse. Also I was shocked and horrified to see a manic patient being locked in there room as the staff said they were to much and a member of staff sat on the other side on the door holding the key in the lock whilst she was screaming to get out. Even visitors felt uneasy with some staff and this wasn't fair on the great staff they did have. This ward was like a children's playground the doctor picked her favourite people and if you wasn't one you would be discharged you wouldn't be listened to or felt even cared about. This is no start to getting better and then you get discharged and 2 weeks later back in something really needs to be done about rose ward as it could be a good place. If only the ward manager and little staff took the while ward on by themselves 1:1 were never offered if your named nurse was on leave and some staff would bitch to us about there Co workers. I don't feel I could ever go back or want to go back to rose ward .
