What I liked
The hospital is very modern, airy and spacious, and the staff were all very helpful and kind.
What could be improved
General cleanliness. The toilets in the A&E Dept were revolting - the previous patient had made a real mess of them, and the staff hadn't had the time to properly clear up what he had left behind.
Anything else?
Better specialist provision of staff is needed. I had to attend the hospital on two consecutive occasions, and both times had to be transferred via ambulance, over an hours journey to the Wansbeck to see the specialist there. It seems ridiculous to have such a new, modern hospital, with hardly any specialists present. Also, I think that the car parking charges at Hexham are scandalous. My husband had to keep leaving my side to fill up the meter.
