I would just like to thank Dr Rachel McCullen and Nurse Sarah Herridge for the fantastic service I have just received at Beverley Sexual Health Clinic.

I have just had a copper IUD fitted and have to admit I was not looking forward to it! Being only 22 and having had not children, I expected the procedure to be rather painful, and embarrassing but I can honestly say it was fine!

The doctor and nurse made me feel totally at ease and talked me through everything. The whole thing was done very quickly and was virtually painless.

Now about an hour on I feel fine although have very mild period pain no worse than usual.

Obviously this method of contraception won't be for everyone but I just wanted to share a very positive experience with anyone thinking about this.

Thank you for telling your story, not just to compliment the caring staff, but give us your positive feedback about the procedure.

Many women believe that the copper coil is a method of contraception for women who have had children. Some are also worried that it involves a long and painful procedure to get it fitted.

In fact the copper coil is a highly effective method of fit and forget contraception for all women.

Your opinion demonstrates that people who have not had babies CAN choose a coil, it is a quick procedure and, despite what you were told by others, you found the procedure to be quite painless.

We are very pleased to hear that you have had a such a positive patient experience and we thank you for your feedback.
