"I am disgusted with lack of timely local appointment"

About: Shropshire and Staffordshire Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

I was referred to TRAQS by Specsavers in Wellington, to see an ophthalmology consultant, due to suspected blistering of a retina.

TRAQS rang me to say no appointments were available at my local hospitals, the Princess Royal Telford or The Royal Shrewsbury. I was offered a September apt in Leyton, or November apt in Wolverhampton. Due to the risk of further eye deterioration I was very concerned so contacted Specsavers, who kindly chased TRAQS for earlier apt for me locally. However, this hasn’t worked as no one has contacted me since. I am disgusted with the lack of a timely local apt! ! ! !

I am disappointed to read of your long wait for an ophthalmology appointment.

Unfortunatelty TRAQS rely upon the local hospitals to provide appointments slots which are not always available in which case we offer the soonest available appointment.

Although your referral was processed by the TRAQS team your comments relate to the availability of appointments at Princess Royal Hospital NHS Trust/Royal Shrewsbury Hospital NHS Trust and as such we are unable to comment on their behalf.

Please may we direct you the Patient Advice Liaison Officer (PALS). They will be able to take your comments further on behalf of the individual hospital concerned.
