"See and Treat"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I presented myself to A&E this morning struggling with an ongoing foot pain that had developed a week ago. After seeing a lovely triage nurse I then waited an hour to be seen by a doctor. She knew exactly what the problem was but she made me feel like I'd wasted her time because it was a common issue that I was experiencing (obviously I had no idea what the problem was). She made me feel like my pain was very insignificant and that I had wasted her time, despite the fact that I was in a lot of pain and struggling to walk. She brushed me off with advice about taking painkillers and sent me on my way. I feel like I wasted an hour of my time for nothing, I'm still struggling to walk following her advice and I shall not be recommending this hospital to my friends/family in the future.

Please accept apologies for the way you were made to feel today. This isn't the sort of experience we'd want for any of our patients. Can we try and resolve things for you? We have an Assistance service you can call on 01246 512640. They'd welcome the opportunity to help. It's really disappointing that you wouldn't want to recommend us and we'd like to learn from what happened to you to make sure we improve. Kind regards Sarah Turner-Saint, head of communications
