"Disgusted with the conditions"

About: Watford General Hospital

(as a relative),

Went to Watford General to visit a patient on the fifth floor and was disgusted with the conditions. The lift walls were encrusted with filth as were the lift doors. It was unbelievable. Could not believe it since it would have taken only a small effort to remedy. Daily cleaning maybe when cleaners are moving through the lift from floor to floor. Going down the hall widows were covered with hand prints and unknown streaks of filth and who knows what human fluids. The ground was also dirty and did not look as if it had been mopped/cleaned and sanitized in weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to let us have your feedback, I am sorry you had this experience at Watford Hospital.

All our lifts and floors are cleaned daily and in many instances several times a day. We have immediately asked our cleaning company to ensure that a supervisor checks the cleanliness of these areas and signs them off.

Thank you for alerting us to this and we hope that you would find these areas improved if you visit again.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to. My name is Stevie Pattison-Dick, Assistant Director of Communications and I am on email Stevie.pattison-dick@whht.nhs.uk or phone 01923 436 283.
