About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

This is the second contact that I have had with TRAQS. It seems very odd that for an organisation based in Shropshire on neither occasion was I offered an appointment in Shropshire. Both times my referral had to be passed to Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with the TRAQS team.

TRAQS offers Choice to all patients in line with the NHS Patient Charter. We can offer appointments anywhere in England as long as the hospital offers NHS appointments. TRAQS aims to offer patients the Choice of hospitals/Community clinics depending upon the reason for the referral and the most appropriate place for the patient to be seen. Unfortunately not all services TRAQS can offer have appointments available. This is due to a number of factors:

1. The service may be an assessment service at the local hospital - this is when a patient's referral letter is assessed by a consultant to see if the patient requires diagnostic tests prior to being seen by the consultant. This process saves time for the patient as they are able to receive the results of any tests promptly.and do not always need to be seen by the consultant in clinic.

2. There may not be any appointment slots to offer at the hospital of the patient's Choice- We rely upon the hospitals to release slots to TRAQS but due to capacity issues we are not akways able to book an appointment.
