My husband rang the NHS Direct helpline when I complained of chest pains at about 4am. Whilst getting details from him an ambulance had already been alerted, within twenty minutes a paramedic arrived and ten minutes later an ambulance.
On reaching the hospital I was attended to immediately in A&E, later transferred to the assessment ward where several tests were done and finally to coronary care ward. I was kept up to date with everything that was being done for me, (each move I made from ward to ward, my husband, at home was informed).
All staff in the hospital were very reassuring and helpful. Everything was explained clearly about tablets, future appointments and "do's and don'ts". I have every confidence in the DRI.
