"Diabolical A&E department!"

As an out of area patient I wasn't familiar with this hospital, Thank god I never have to use this disgrace of a place again. My two year old son came in with a head injury after tripping over whilst on holiday. We were told half an hour to wait before seeing the nurse. New arrivals coming through the door into the already tiny packed waiting room. One woman who could have taken her son to the gp Friday for antibiotics came in after us, was seen straight away for a child a of approx 8-10yrs, over a teo year old with a head injury. An hour and a half later we saw the nurse, only to be told to wait another 3 hours as his head needed gluing. A child who arrived before we had eaten dinner had to wait till 10pm to be seen as more and more similar patients came in with probably the same priority as my son. he went to bed with nothing to eat as he fell asleep in the end. Waiting room was full of rubbish, and nothing child amusing. Disgusting!

The department has been under a lot of pressure and has experienced surges in patients coming to us that have been difficult to manage in a timely way.
