Admitted for planned surgery in early December 2013. My surgery was for Gastric Sleeve. However morning of surgery they failed to carry out basic pre-op checks on admission and then proceeded to cancel my surgery, citing a high HbA1C. This was supposedly taken a few days previously, when in fact it was taken six weeks earlier. A new HbA1C would have no doubt have showed a better result. To make the situation worst they then wrote a letter to my GP saying surgery was cancelled because I had failed to follow the liver shrinking diet and had gained weight on admission. This caused me great upset, since I had followed the diet and managed to lose 18lbs by the morning of my planned surgery.
I made an official complaint and got an apology by the end of January 2014 along with a bouquet of flowers, they admitted they made several errors.
10 months on I have still not had the surgery and Salford Royal are ignoring my correspondence, two emails have been sent to surgeons secretary in May and June both with "I will get someone to look in to this for you and get back" I also wrote to the Lead Manager in July who was involved with my complaint and no reply from them either.
Very unhappy and dissatisfied with this hospital.
