Over the last 2 to 3 years I have become increasingly concerned about a medical practice in Tayside. The Senior Practitioner Dr. The senior practitioner is due for retirement, and has become part time. The Replacement, presents as being patronising at best, and misogynist at worse, with an attitude which implies that the doctor knows best, and is disinclined to listen to the patient despite the patient living in the body in question, and being very familiar with the conditions from which they suffer, to the extent that I would rather die than take an appointment with this doctor.
In particular the doctor refused to refer me to have a gall bladder removed despite the specialist at Ninewells hospital saying that this was the best way forward. In the event, after a few episodes of Cholecystitis, which is miserable, I was referred by another doctor, and my Gall Bladder was removed.
The situation improved with the arrival of a young, dynamic Dr. Now, to our dismay, we discover that this doctor is leaving. While this is deeply distressing, it is quite understandable. The fabric of the practice is dingy and badly in need of being redecorated, the number of ancillary clinics, i.e. Well Woman / Man clinics- non existent, and even those which are i.e. respiratory clinic and Cardiac clinic, can involve waits, long beyond appointment times.
Twice in a row, my annual check up involved waiting for 45 mins for the nurse to turn up, and when the nurse did, there was no apology or explanation, so that I now don't bother to attend.
All in all, I don't know whether I will continue to be a patient at this surgery after the new doctor leaves and wish there was some action which could be taken to keep the new doctor in post.
