"A visitors perspective"

I was sent to Royal Surrey with my daughter as our local hospital didn't provide the service in paediatric surgery so we had no idea what to expect. We were really impressed right from the moment we got there. Everyone was warm, friendly and incredibly communicative. My daughter's case was thoroughly reviewed and we had all the necessary tests to diagnose the appropriate course of treatment. I stayed overnight with her in the hospital and this was made so much easier because the staff were so warm and supportive. The cleanliness is amazing compared to our local services and every time a nurse came over to us they used antiseptic to clean their hands first. The paediatric team were outstanding despite having a busy admissions night. The surgical team communicated clearly and with empathy which meant you felt at ease in the process and confident in the decisions being made. Everyone involved spoke to my daughter (9) in a kind, considerate and careful manner which gave her understanding and helped her feel empowered and involved in her care. Really impressed and very grateful.
