"3 hours with a 9 month old at night"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Arrived before 8 pm after our 9 month old fell and bumped her head. Seen by a triage nurse after 20 minutes who said we should wait for the doctor. At 10 pm we had a very tired daughter so returned to the desk to be told we had 3 people ahead of us. Half an hour later, this was down to two. In the end we were left with no medical advice to decide if we should keep her there or take her to bed. Absolutely ridiculous for a hospital covering such a wide area.

I am sorry that you had to wait an unreasonable amount of time and had to leave before your daughter was seen by a doctor. We do try and keep patients and their families informed if there are going to be delays due to other patients who may arrive by ambulance. I am happy to discuss your concerns and experiences and apologise personally, if you would like to contact me via our PALS team on 01205 446243.

Sincerely

Lynda Stockwell

Head of Nursing.
