"Emergency admission for fractured hip 26.08.2014"

About: Watford General Hospital

When I fell over and broke my hip last Tuesday at the age of 54, I was dreading going to Watford hospital as three years ago I had suffered two separate occasions of unsatisfactory treatment. The paramedic who came out to me was very professional and gave me reassurance. The two ambulance crew which drove me to the hospital were also very reassuring. I was concerned as I had only just returned to work after a full abdominal reconstruction at the Royal Free in March. I was taken to A& E which was absolutely packed with people but despite this I was seen very quickly. I also didn't have to wait very long for an x-Ray even though there were some very challenging situations going on. The staff remain calm polite and were very caring. There was a nurse who was wonderful. I was taken up to cleves ward to wait for my operation I met another remarkable staff nurse. In my time there I saw how compassionately the nurse dealt with each patient while still being able to be uber efficient. The whole time of my stay I was consulted about my pain relief and felt I was listened to and given choices. The theatre team was equally fantastic especially the anaesthetist, and I was able to watch the whole operation and felt fantastic afterwards. I met so many wonderful health professionals who looked after me before I was sent back up to the ward. I other points that struck me as much improved were the food and the internal decor was brighter and lighter. Watford now to has a first class hospital offering first class treatment. Yours Thankfully Susan Passey
