"St Michael's Maternity unit"

About: St Michael's Hospital (Bristol)

I have given birth to both of my sons at St Michael's (the first in Dec 2010) and the second in June 2014 and I have been extremely happy with the care that I received on both occasions. The midwives are clearly very busy but I was always treated brilliantly. The first time I stayed on the ward for 4 days as my son couldn't establish breast feeding and despite the whole place being completely full, I was never pressurised into going home. Since my first visit, the facilities (wards, bathrooms, toilets etc) have been refurbished and cleanliness was never a concern. The only thing that is disappointing is the food: real old-school hospital food (by which I mean not very good). Never having been to another hospital in Bristol, I suspect this isn't a St Michael's-specific problem though. All in all, I love St Michael's and think the people who work there are great. Thank you St Michael's!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of St Michael's Hospital. We are very pleased to hear that you've had such great care. The quality of our food is indeed in line with other hospitals, but following feedback from maternity service-users we have been focussing on improving this aspect of our service. This has led to an increase in food satisfaction scores for our postnatal wards, and we will continue to try and improve these further. Thanks again for your review and we will pass your feedback on to the team.
