Well I spent a day from hell in Newcross yesterday I was down to have a new hip. I followed my instructions to the letter my appointment was for 7.00 am and I was there at 6.45 I was called through at 7.15 into a room to wait to see the anaesthetist and doctor everything was fine and had my black arrow on my hip and was then sent into the lounge area to wait. There was 6 of us waiting I had to sit on the most uncomfortable seats ever and periodically the nurse would come through and say we have a bed for one person and periodically she would say a bed for another person. At 3.15 my surgeon came to see me to tell me there were no beds and would have to go home. Now bearing in mind I had nothing to eat or drink from 20.00 the day before to say I was fragile is an understatement. At the end of the day I could barely walk the nurse that had looked after us from 7.00 am had tried to get information and people were just not picking up the phone. I am now told I will have to wait up to 28 days for another appointment I cannot believe that this happens in this day and age surely someone knows how many beds they have. If I had been told earlier that an operation was unlikely it would not have been so bad but now I am in complete agony due to waiting all this time. An unhappy person indeed in loads of pain too.
