"Great experience in Auditory Clinic"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public. We have their details and will forward any comments to them, as they do not have an email address. They said…

I had a unique experience today taking a friend to the Auditory Clinic at Tameside Hospital and being invited to be there. The young nurse Elaine, who welcomed us, was on time, and welcomed my friend and I with courtesy and openness about the examination that was to take place. It was explained in details anyone could have understood and she carried out the examination efficiently with concern for the feelings of her patient.

Moderate hearing loss was explained and the best options for my friend given to her so that she could make an informed choice on what she wanted from the outcome.

I have the same problems with hearing and felt that when I need to get an appointment I will know enough about the whole procedure and would not hesitate to go to Tameside Hospital.

Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to post these most welcome comments.

This will be such a great morale boost for the staff in the auditory clinic to receive such comments.

Please be assured these will be passed on to Elaine.

Thank you again

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing
