Transferred to this ward from Ward 10 and was immediately put at ease by a 'chirpy ' staff nurse. The continuous support I received during my stay was outstanding, with some of the staff excelling themselves in their care and compassion. The staff worked well as a team with an obvious spirit of camaraderie. In the main they were good communicators and had the patient's welfare firmly at the top of their agenda. Matron and the Ward Manager were very approachable and eager to hear of any dissatisfactions which were acted upon immediately, thus boosting confidence in my care. However, some medical staff were suffering from the 'Doctor- Dog' syndrome , ie: Dr to dog............ "behave yourself, " instead of "'will you behave yourself "? Unfortunately, the doctors sometimes forgot they were speaking to humans and, after telling the patient what they were going to do, instead of discussing what they would like to do with someone else's body, they then had the audicity to ask the patient if they had any questions after they had nearly frightened the patient to death! After complaining about one such doctor, the complaint was soon acted upon and the doctor was cured by the following day! An enlightening and interesting stay on this ward.
